Yet another creeping tentacle of the sprawling Big Chill festival 'n' funness circuit, the bar occupies a pretty charming building on the Pentonville Road. It's certainly an impressive operation - multi-storied and well decorated, there are various nooks and crannies that you can dive into and share twenty-quid jugs of cocktails or pints of freshish lager.

Defectors Weld
If one were permitted to make a tenuous metaphor between a pub and a character in popular fiction, then the comparison between the wonderfully titled Defector's Weld with Doctor Jekyl and Mr Hyde is perhaps the best that one can manage on already very thin ground.

Dogstar
Being a bit of legend in the Brixton area means that Dogstar has its reputation to think of. It may have had its up and downs in recent years, but the old haunt still has a lot going for it - the semi-recent addition of super-quality Mexican food - some say its amongst the best in the whole city - certainly adds something to the place, and a plate of fresh guacamole and tortillas is welcome addition to a round of ice cold bottled beers (of which they have loads).
